XXIII WINTER UNIVERSIADE, TORINO

with Italo Lupi
Location: Torino
Date: 2007
Client: City of Torino

Inspired by the Look of the City of Olympic Torino 2006, the project has created a series of interconnected episodes of great communicative power, through installations placed in the university district and the cultural areas of the city. The project defines a new image of the city of Torino for 2007, characterized by a new colour, sulphur yellow.
The installations are characterized by the large metal elements with the constructive rigour typical of industrial semi-finished products, which are combined with the freer forms of the “Follies”: active structures made of light, movements and dynamic messages, featuring images that change between day and night. The graphic design centres on the elaboration of illustrations studied ad hoc, “icons” of the university sports genres, and the use of a contemporary lettering.
The Look of the city of Torino 2006 Olympiad conceived by Lupi-Migliore-Servetto was supposed to be used for just a couple of months but because of the great citizens’ appreciation of the project it has been used for 3 years and some elements are still in use right now.
