LA MADONNA DELLA MISERICORDIA. PIERO DELLA FRANCESCA

Towards the artwork: a laical procession

Location: Sala Alessi, Palazzo Marino, Milan
Date: 6 th December 2016 – 8 th January 2017
Client: Civita
Curator: Andrea Di Lorenzo

“To adapt the eye and the mind to understand the structure and the genesis of a masterpiece is the aim of the approaching path designed for the exhibition of “Madonna della Misericordia” at Palazzo Marino in Milano.
A narrative, meaningful itinerary, made of light and dynamism, which combines different heights and prospects studied to invite the visitors to face the painting, with its being part of the polyptych that encloses it and with its history. This process has been conceived as a sort of laical precession towards the aknowledgement of one of the most important paintings of Piero della Francesca. An approach, structured in four consecutive moments, which gradually reveals and contextualises the artwork, through dynamic and narrative sequences. All this is meant to lead the visitors to measure, know, observe, and get to the vis-à- vis, to the ‘nude and crude view’ of the painting, emphasized in all its value only by the light.
