HERB RITTS. IN EQUILIBRIO

Location: Palazzo della Ragione, Milano
Date: February-June 2016
Client: Civita
Curators: Alessandra Mauro

A wide, welcoming gallery is the area designed by the set up of Migliore+Servetto Architects for the exhibit “In Equilibrio”, dedicated to the famous photographer Herb Ritts.
Within Palazzo della Ragione a strong, diffuse light reflects on white blinds and finds its way into the area as if it were a ‘rain of natural light’.
Below, there is a linear path, pinpointed by partitions of white, essential volumes, and among these wide blinds rise up, suspended and paused by transparent curtain walls with dynamic projections, creating a sort of space’s division.

PEDRALI URBAN LIFE

Location: Fiera Milano, Rho
Date: Milan Design Week, April 2016
Client: Pedrali

The project Pedrali Urban Life by Migliore+Servetto Architects places the visitor at the centre of a kaleidoscopic urban setting to explore Pedrali new proposals for Salone del Mobile 2016 in Milan.
A skyline made up of a succession of houses silhouettes which, on different levels, reproduces an urban landscape created through the lightness of opalescent Lexan profiles with accents of light. The central square – surrounded by views over the interior of the houses that host different furniture collections- leads though, offering spaces for rest and sharing emphasized by tall portals, and opens up to the reception area and the raised back lounge. From here it’s possible to access to a restricted zone: an exhibition space but also a hospitality area for follow-up meetings.

SPACE & INTERIORS

Location: The Mall Porta Nuova, Milano
Date: Milan Design Week, April 2016
Client: Made Expo

For the first edition of Space & Interiors, at The Mall – Porta Nuova, Migliore + Servetto Architects designed an innovative concept of exhibition center. The interior is designed on the basis of a double register: on one hand the commercial purpose offers a detailed analysis of each products on display; on the other hand, an analytical approach allows a dialectic comparison between them.
At the centre of the space there is the exhibit New Components Code: ten high towers with a light framework, spaced out by welcoming seats, host a selection of the companies’ most significant products in order to create an osmotic exchange, a dynamic and flowing relationship between the two areas. Inside each tower a selection of scale models, realized by Milan Polytechnic’s students, from Victor Horta to Carlo Mollino, from Marcel Breuer to Ettore Sottsass and Roberto Venturi, shows a cross-section of Interior Architectural History, exploring the main milestones. A sort of hive that offers a double point of view, between innovation and history, and goes along with the visitors and guide them through the stands.
The exhibition area of each company extends vertically with graphic elements creating a multi-level context and characterizing the view of the central promenade.
Along the path there are different welcoming and meeting points: the Library, an area dedicated to the publishing house; the info-point area, where the sales material is available; the ‘Archicocktail area’ that creates a meeting and conference space for experts; the ‘lounge area’, confidential meeting place for the companies.
“We conceived space&interiors as a promenade which leads to, between innovation and history, reconsider the key role of components and finishing to define the quality of Interior Design”. (Ico Migliore e Mara Servetto)

THE ART OF LIVING 2016

THE ART OF LIVING
Domestic concepts featuring design and hi-tech.

Location: Palazzo della Permanente, Milano
Date: Milano Design Week, April 2016
Client: RCS
Curators: Francesca Taroni, Ico Migliore

The project realized by Migliore+Servetto Architects for Living Interior Magazine of Corriere della Sera, directed by Francesca Taroni, designs a large wireframe house worth getting to know. A light and continuous sign to define a route full of projections and furniture that reveal the hi-tech spirit within, and includes detailed descriptions of the materials used and special finishings.
Fluid and flexible spaces that plunge the visitor into an emotional experience where their attention is focused on the hidden value of the designer furniture, value originating from the knowhow of the leading companies in the industry.
The idea is to showcase a hypothetical house of the future, stimulating reflection on how we will live and how we will furnish our domestic spaces. On how technology transforms style and ways of living. In a steady flow along the walls are the thoughts and visions of the most acclaimed architects, designers and thinkers on the international scene: Philippe Starck, Patricia Urquiola, Carlo Ratti, the Bouroullec brothers, Daniel Libeskind, Yves Béhar, Ross Lovegrove, just to name a few. Thus, a type of contemporary thought archive is formed on the subject of innovation on the domestic front.
The experience is brought full circle with a relaxation area that has been transformed into a home theatre. A succession of celebrated film clips on the screen narrate the evolution of the concept of modernity over the last sixty years. From the misadventures of Monsieur Hulot by Jacques Tati to the forerunners of videophones by Wim Wenders and man’s love of his car as recounted in Her.

B&B ITALIA. THE PERFECT DENSITY

B&B ITALIA. THE PERFECT DENSITY

Location: Triennale di Milano
Date: 2-17 April 2016
Client: B&B Italia
Video: 3D Produzioni

The installation conceived by Migliore+Servetto Architects, B&B Italia / The Perfect Density, identifies the
concept of density as the narrative fulcrum to celebrate the 50th anniversary of B&B Italia. “Density” is taken as a feature of B&B Italia’s identity in a broad sense: from the product physical and material nature to the conceptual one.
Density of ideas and projects, always projecting the company into the future, through a continuous drive for innovation.
Through a narrative synthesis, built on intersecting stories of people, products and processes, the installation, set up in the Impluvium of La Triennale di Milano, presents a symbolic representation of the pulsating brain of a company that, over the years, has been capable of producing unique pieces, veritable icons of Italian design.
At the centre of space 8 high vertical cages, pulsating and in movement, create a weave of bright beams that project into the room images and texts, tracing out a system of allusions and suggestions among the various elements. A big brain, whose synapses, shaken by light pulses, surround the visitor in an ongoing and layered tale. Further insight is then provided by the 8 themed towers, which offer 8 different narrative videos.
Two continuous bands scroll across the Impluvium’s side walls, revealing an environmental video consisting of a sum of micro-stories: images of graphics, products, people who over time have helped to build the brand’s excellence, and whose faces and gestures are reproduced to infinity by a system of mirrors.

TECNO CONNECTIONS CONNECTORS AND CONNECTIVITY

TECNO CONNECTIONS, CONNECTORS AND CONNECTIVITY

Location: Caselli Piazza XXV Aprile, Milano
Date:Milan Design Week, April 2016
Client: Tecno Spa

The installation of Migliore+Servetto Architects inside Tecno’s showroom is composed by a dense network of red, spatial links, that emerges from the Caselli, home of the Milanese showroom, and embraces the outside piazza, thus building an unprecedented connection between the two Caselli, on the occasion of Milan Design Week 2016.
A flow of energy which passes through more than one kilometre of red elastic bands stretched between the two specular buildings: a dynamic, continuous mark of narration that connects interior and exterior.
The piazza below this dense network turns into a urban living room, around four large, continuous volumes, used as welcoming seats and as stages to present the product to the outside.
Clavis, the new operating system to be launched during Salone del Mobile is presented, in the two window displays on the piazza, within high mirror frames topped by an ascending vortex of replicas of its silhouette, in a stratification of layers from white to black and vice versa, drawing a dynamic view.

In the Caselli, in a sort of three-dimensional stop motion, a succession of pictures resting on the Clavis tables exposed, recreates the assembly sequence of the product itself, while in a room of the showroom, the glass surface of Clavis table becomes the projection screen for the presentation of io.T; the intelligent system of interconnected furnishings previewed by the company during the last edition of the Salone del Mobile.
